The Power of Social Proof in African Retail

In e-commerce markets where online fraud is a common customer fear, genuine customer testimonials are the #1 driver of purchase conversion.

Teyweb features a built-in product review and star-rating engine (`Review.ts`). Customers who receive orders can leave 1 to 5-star ratings, write comments, and share feedback on product quality, sizing accuracy, and delivery speed.

Verified Purchase Badges

When a customer writes a review using the same email address connected to a completed order for that product, Teyweb automatically awards the review a "Verified Buyer" green checkmark badge.

This badge reassures other shoppers that the reviewer genuinely paid for and received the item, elevating your store's credibility above generic unverified feedback.

Review Moderation & Approval Controls

Navigate to Products > Reviews in your merchant dashboard. Here you can inspect all incoming reviews with moderation controls:

Review Management Actions
ActionWhen to UseResult on Storefront
Approve / PublishLegitimate customer review with genuine feedbackReview immediately appears on the product detail page and contributes to average star rating.
Hide / ArchiveInappropriate language, competitor spam, or unverified claimsHidden from public storefront without deleting the database record.
DeleteSpam links, abusive language, or bot submissionsPermanently purged from the review database.

Replying to Customer Reviews

Beside every published review in your dashboard, click "Reply as Store Owner". Your response is highlighted on the product page directly below the customer's review with an official "Store Owner Response" badge.

Publicly thanking customers for 5-star reviews or professionally addressing concerns on 3-star reviews demonstrates exceptional customer service to prospective buyers.

Best Practices for Negative Feedback

Never panic when receiving constructive criticism. Stores with exclusively 5.0-star ratings often appear artificial to skeptical shoppers.

If a customer complains about delivery delays or wrong sizing, post a polite response explaining the resolution (e.g. "Hi Amaka, we apologize for the logistics delay caused by heavy rain. We see your item was delivered yesterday, and we've emailed you a 10% discount code for your next order!").
