Data Portability & Merchant Sovereignty
At Teyweb, we firmly believe in merchant data sovereignty. Your customer relationships, sales order ledgers, inventory valuations, product photography, and creative content belong entirely to your enterprise.
In full alignment with statutory data protection frameworks (including the Nigeria Data Protection Act / NDPA 2023 and GDPR Article 20 on Data Portability), Teyweb provides an automated, self-service **Store Data Backup & Takeout Hub** (`StoreBackupPage.tsx`).
At any moment with a single click, you can generate and download a complete, unencrypted, structured archive of your entire e-commerce store with zero vendor lock-in.
Zero Platform Lock-In Guarantee
You never need to submit a customer support ticket or pay an extraction fee to export your store data. Your complete store archive is accessible directly in your dashboard 24/7/365.
Real-Time Backup Telemetry & Record Tallies
When you open Store Settings > Data Backup & Takeout (`/settings/backup`), Teyweb dynamically queries your store database to compute live entity tallies across your entire operation:
| Entity Metric | Database Scope | What It Contains |
|---|---|---|
| Products Count | `Product` & `ProductVariant` tables | All active, draft, and archived items, including multi-attribute variant matrices. |
| Categories Count | `Category` table | Full taxonomy tree including parent and nested subcategory mappings. |
| Orders Count | `Order` & `OrderItem` tables | Historical transaction ledgers, itemized purchases, shipping addresses, and payment references. |
| Customers Count | `Customer` directory | Registered accounts, email contacts, phone numbers, and saved shipping destinations. |
| Pages & Stories Count | `StorePage` table | All published and draft CMS pages, legal policy documents, and brand editorial blog articles. |
| Total Records | Aggregate database entities | The combined record tally packaged into your downloadable archive. |
Generating & Downloading the JSON Takeout Archive
To generate a full store takeout:
1. Navigate to Store Settings > Data Backup & Takeout (`/settings/backup`).
2. Inspect the Real-Time Backup Summary card to confirm all entity records are accounted for.
3. Click the primary "Download Takeout (.json)" button in the page header.
4. Teyweb compiles a structured, human-readable JSON archive named `store_data_backup_{your-store-slug}_{YYYY-MM-DD}.json`.
5. The file is saved directly to your local computer, ready for offline archiving, audit compliance, or data migration.
The `teyweb-takeout-v1` Standardized Schema Specification
Teyweb's takeout files conform to the open, relational `teyweb-takeout-v1` JSON standard. You can copy the exact schema specification directly from the "Schema Spec" tab in the backup hub:
Full Store Takeout vs Granular Department Exports
The Store Backup Hub organizes export capabilities into 3 convenient tabs:
1. Full Store Takeout: Compiles every relational entity (store profile, configuration, categories, products, variants, orders, customers, pages, and blog posts) into a unified JSON archive.
2. Granular Data Exports: Allows you to export specific departments independently without downloading your entire database:
- Product Catalog: Download spreadsheets under Products > Import & Export (`/products/import-export`) in Excel (.xlsx) or CSV format.
- Inventory Report: Download inventory status reports under Products > Inventory (`/products/inventory`).
- Order Ledgers: Export customer transaction histories under Orders (`/orders/all`).
- Customer CRM: Export buyer profiles and lifetime spend records under Customers (`/customers/manage`).
3. Schema Spec Tab: Inspect schema definitions, field types, and version compatibility.
Comprehensive Entity Scope Breakdown
The generated takeout archive encompasses all operational dimensions of your store:
Key Takeaways
- Store Profile & Identity: Display name, store slug, base currency, support email, phone numbers, registered address, and logo keys.
- Catalog & Multi-Variant Matrices: Product titles, descriptions, retail pricing, cost prices (COGS), compare-at discounts, SKUs, barcodes, inventory stock counts, image galleries, and variant options.
- Taxonomy & Collections: Custom category hierarchy, thumbnail URLs, and promotional collection groupings.
- Customer Directory: Customer profiles, contact details, total lifetime orders, and saved delivery addresses.
- Orders & Financial Transactions: Complete order records, line items, delivery logistics details, customer notes, tracking references, and payment verification codes.
- CMS Content & Brand Editorial: Full body markdown/HTML, hero banners, author credits, category tags, reading times, and SEO metadata.
- Theme Customizer Configurations: Active storefront template selection, custom color palette tokens, typography font pairings, hero carousel settings, and section layout orders.
Disaster Recovery, Accounting Audits & Governance
Routine data backups are critical for corporate governance, business continuity, and financial risk mitigation:
- Statutory Tax & Accounting Audits: Preserves historical invoices, customer delivery locations, and sales revenues for revenue authorities.
- Disaster Recovery: If a staff member with administrative access accidentally deletes critical product categories or custom pages, your JSON archive provides an exact historical blueprint to restore your store.
- Recommendation: We recommend high-volume merchants download a monthly takeout archive at the end of each accounting reconciliation period and store it securely in enterprise cloud storage.
