How Shipping Calculation Works at Checkout

During storefront checkout, when a buyer selects their delivery State and City, Teyweb dynamically queries your store's active delivery records (`Delivery.ts`).

All matching delivery options are displayed with clear pricing and estimated delivery times (e.g., "Standard Lagos Island Delivery (1-2 Days) - ₦2,500"). The selected fee is automatically added to the order total.

Creating Geographic Delivery Zones

To add a new delivery rate, go to Settings > Delivery Settings and click "+ Add Delivery Rate":

1

Zone Name

Give the rate a customer-friendly title (e.g. "Lagos Island & Lekki Delivery", "Abuja Express", "Nationwide Standard").

2

Geographic Scope

Select either "State-Specific" (e.g. Lagos, Rivers, Abuja FCT) or "All States" for a nationwide umbrella rate.

3

Delivery Fee

Enter the exact cost in Naira (e.g., ₦2,500). If you want to offer free delivery on this zone, enter 0.

4

Estimated Delivery Window

Specify expected delivery time (e.g., "1 to 3 business days"). This sets customer expectations and reduces "where is my order?" inquiries.

Flat Rate vs Weight-Based Shipping

Teyweb supports two primary calculation methods:

Shipping Calculation Types
MethodHow It WorksBest Suited For
Flat Rate ShippingA fixed price is charged regardless of the number of items or package size.Fashion apparel, cosmetics, jewelry, and lightweight goods.
Weight-Based ShippingRates scale based on total parcel weight (e.g., 0-2kg: ₦2,500; 2-5kg: ₦4,500; 5kg+: ₦8,000).Heavy goods, bulk foodstuff, household appliances, and furniture.

Configuring Free Delivery Thresholds

Offering free shipping is one of the most effective psychological incentives to increase Average Order Value (AOV).

In each delivery zone, you can define an optional "Free Delivery Order Minimum" (e.g. "Free shipping on orders over ₦50,000"). When a customer adds items totaling ₦50,000 or more, the delivery fee is automatically discounted to ₦0 at checkout.

Enabling In-Store Local Pickup

If you have a physical boutique, retail shop, or fulfillment office, enable the "Local Store Pickup" toggle:

- Pickup Address: Specify the exact collection address, landmarks, and opening hours (e.g., "Suite 4B, Silverbird Galleria, Victoria Island. Mon-Sat 9am - 6pm").

- Zero Delivery Charge: Store pickup options are automatically free of delivery fees.

- Customer Notification: When the order status is set to "Processing", the customer receives an email confirming their package is packed and ready for pickup.

Logistics Best Practices for Nigerian E-Commerce

1. Set realistic timelines: It is always better to promise 3 business days and deliver in 2 days than promise same-day and deliver late.

2. Partner with reliable dispatch riders: Maintain at least two logistics providers (e.g. GIGL, Topship, Terminal Africa, or dedicated bike riders) to prevent operational bottlenecks during fuel shortages or peak rain seasons.

3. Provide clear delivery notes: Encourage customers to include street landmarks during checkout.
