Product Analytics, Demand Matrix & Margin Intelligence
Deep diagnostic intelligence, 4-quadrant restock urgency matrix, Pareto 80/20 analysis, and gross margin optimization
The Dedicated Product Analytics Hub (`/products/analytics`)
Successful retail businesses do not rely on intuition—they use rigorous diagnostic intelligence. Knowing which products generate the bulk of your revenue, which items yield the highest profit margins, and which listings receive heavy traffic but fail to convert is essential for sustainable growth.
Teyweb provides a dedicated intelligence command center at Products > Product Analytics (`/products/analytics`). Built directly on top of real transactional order ledgers and store pageview telemetry, the hub transforms raw sales data into actionable strategic insights.
Dynamic Multi-Timeframe Filtering (7d to 1y)
At the top of your Product Analytics hub, a quick duration selector allows you to instantly recalculate all catalog KPIs, quadrants, and leaderboards across standard reporting horizons:
- Last 7 Days (`7d`): Best for monitoring recent product launches, weekend flash sales, or viral social media campaign spikes.
- Last 30 Days / 1 Month (`1m` - Default): Optimal for monthly financial reconciliation, supplier reordering, and routine inventory planning.
- Last 90 Days / 3 Months (`3m`): Evaluates quarterly performance trends and seasonal collection demand.
- Last 180 Days / 6 Months (`6m`): Mid-year performance reviews and supplier contract evaluations.
- Last 1 Year (`1y`): Full-year annual retail reviews, holiday season comparisons, and long-term assortment planning.
Executive Catalog Performance KPIs & Cost Price Auditing
The top KPI cards provide immediate visibility into the commercial health of your product catalog:
Cost Price (COGS) Auditing Notice
If any of your products are missing a configured Cost Price, Teyweb displays a helpful audit banner: "X products are missing cost prices. Add cost prices in the product editor to unlock complete profit margin analytics."
| Metric | Calculation Formula | Operational Significance |
|---|---|---|
| Total Product Revenue | Sum of gross product item sales in period | The total top-line sales volume delivered by your catalog merchandise. |
| Units Sold | Sum of physical items fulfilled in paid orders | Total commercial volume moving out of your warehouse or retail shelves. |
| Catalog Conversion Rate | (Paid Orders / Total Product Pageviews) * 100 | Measures storefront browsing intent vs actual customer purchasing decisions. |
| Total Catalog Pageviews | Aggregated shopper product impressions | Total customer interest and eyeball traffic attracted by your catalog. |
| Average Profit Margin | Average margin % across products with Cost Prices | Evaluates real operational markup and gross profitability across the catalog. |
The 4-Quadrant Demand & Restock Urgency Matrix
At the heart of Teyweb's catalog intelligence is the interactive 4-Quadrant Demand Matrix. By plotting Sales Velocity (Customer Demand) against Current Available Stock (Supply), every item in your catalog is classified into one of 4 strategic quadrants:
Interactive Matrix Filtering
Click on any quadrant badge at the top of the matrix to filter the product list down to that specific category (e.g. click "Urgent Restock" to view only items needing immediate supplier orders).
| Quadrant Label | Demand vs Stock Profile | Strategic Action & Playbook |
|---|---|---|
| 🔥 Urgent Restock (`fast_moving_low_stock`) | High Sales Velocity • Low Stock Level | Highest operational priority. These items are selling rapidly but have critically low stock. Order replenishment from vendors immediately to avoid losing sales. |
| 💎 Cash Cows / Top Performers (`cash_cow`) | High Sales Velocity • Healthy Stock Level | The core engine of your business. These items generate consistent revenue with safe inventory levels. Maintain marketing momentum and feature in storefront hero banners. |
| 📦 Overstocked / Excess (`overstocked`) | Low Sales Velocity • High Stock Level | Working capital is trapped. Products are moving slower than anticipated. Run promotional discount codes, bundle with Cash Cows, or launch a flash sale to free up cash. |
| 💤 Dormant / Slow Movers (`dormant`) | Low Sales Velocity • Low Stock Level | Minimal customer traction. Evaluate whether to discontinue the item, update product photography, discount remaining units, or replace with new arrivals. |
Pareto 80/20 Revenue Distribution Analysis
In retail commerce, the Pareto Principle often dictates that 80% of revenue comes from just 20% of catalog items. Teyweb automatically calculates your exact store distribution:
For example: "3 of your 15 products (20% of catalog) generate 82.4% of total product sales."
Understanding your Pareto distribution helps you recognize Catalog Dependency Risk: if your business relies almost exclusively on 1 or 2 products, a supplier disruption could devastate revenue. Use this insight to cross-sell complementary accessories and develop new high-demand offerings.
Margin Optimization: Highest vs Lowest Margin Products
High sales revenue does not always equal high business profit. A product selling for ₦50,000 with a cost price of ₦45,000 yields only ₦5,000 in gross margin (10%), while an accessory selling for ₦10,000 with a cost of ₦2,000 yields ₦8,000 (80%).
The Margin Insights leaderboard automatically breaks down your catalog profitability:
- Highest Margin Products: Products yielding the highest percentage gross margin. Prioritize these items in promotional ads and upsell bundles to maximize bottom-line profit.
- Lowest Margin Products: Items with thin or negative margins. Review these listings to determine whether to increase retail prices, renegotiate supplier wholesale rates, or replace high-cost packaging.
Category Performance: Revenue Share, Units & Impressions
Under the Category Performance section, Teyweb provides an itemized breakdown of how each department or collection contributes to store results:
- Category Name & Product Count
- Units Sold & Total Period Revenue
- Revenue Share % (with visual progress bars showing contribution to total store sales)
- Total Shopper Impressions / Pageviews
This data helps you allocate your marketing budget toward departments with proven buyer demand and identify underperforming categories that need curation.
Multi-Attribute Performance Leaderboards
Easily switch between 4 dedicated ranking leaderboards to discover performance outliers:
1. Top Sellers by Revenue: Products that generate the highest monetary gross sales.
2. Top Sellers by Units: Products ordered in the highest quantities (volume drivers).
3. Most Viewed Products: High-traffic items that attract browser attention (if conversion is low, consider tweaking price or description).
4. Profit Margins: Ranked by net percentage markup over wholesale cost price.
Operational Action: Bridging Analytics to Inventory Restocking
Analytics are only valuable when paired with immediate operational execution:
- Direct Inventory Restocking: When you spot an item in the "Urgent Restock" quadrant, click its row to jump directly to the Inventory Hub (`/products/inventory`) to check vendor runway or trigger a purchase order in the Restock Planner.
- 1-Click Product Editing: Click the edit icon to open the Product Editor (`/products/:productId`), where you can update pricing, upload new photography, or configure variants.
- Live Storefront Preview: Click the external link icon to view how the product appears to customer shoppers on your live storefront.
